The most common advice is 2-3 liters of fluids, but no one ever told you the precise quantity.
You’re probably thinking, does a precise quantity exist?
Yes and it’s varies for each person.
The good news is… it’s easy to calculate.
I’m about to show you exactly how much fluid you need to consume everyday.
Misconception
Before I show you how to calculate your fluid intake requirement I need to clarify something.
Many people assume fluid refers to water.
Water is an awesome drink, but it’s not the only fluid you can drink.
How Much Should You Drink?
It’s recommended to drink 0.5-1 Ounce per pound of body weight.
Some doctors from health.com have provided an equation to calculate the exact amount of fluids you should drink.
How do you calculate it?
Your weight in pounds divided by two. Now drink that amount in ounces.
Here’s an example:
Let’s say you weigh 180 pounds.
Divided by two (if you’re going for the minimum 0.5 Oz/lbs) = 90 Oz.
Or if you’re going for 1 Oz/lbs then that’s 180 Oz.
That means you should drink 90 – 180 ounces a day.
You may want to convert to Liters.
So that’s 2.55718 – 5.32324 Liters
Approx. = 2.6 – 5.3 Liters
What’s that in glasses?
The average glass of water contains 250 ml.
That means you get the total amount in ml and divide that by the glass size (250 ml)
So, according to our example it would be this:
2600 / 250 = 10.4 glasses of water
Or 5300 / 250 = 21.2 Glasses of water
To be on the safe side let’s say 11 – 21 glasses of water for 180 lbs person.
Stay hydrated!
